Okay, I did a little research and, admittedly, I could find precious little support for Bush as far as the state of our economy goes. I found oodles of criticism. The following was the most fair (although still very harsh, and maybe deservedly so, on the current administration) assessment that I could find. Therefore, based on everything I have read, I concede that Bush needs to address the state of the economy, including 1/ follow through on his August pledge for an investor-tax-cut package and 2/ tell America, in clear and simple terms, what economic problems he inherited and what economic policies he truly believes in, how lower taxes and tighter spending will deliver a strong economy at home and bolster the war effort abroad. I don't have a strong opinion on a majority of the economic topics because I don't know enough to form an educated opinion.
It's not that the recession hasn't affected me and my family too. My husband's stock portfolios make my knees buckle when I see how much of my FAMILY'S money was lost. I have a big family to raise and send to college, so I am certainly no stranger to fiscal and financial worries. But if all I am going to do is sit around and bitch about it, what good am I doing? I can certainly say that I do MORE than my fair share of SPENDING (to stimulate the economy, of course. heh ) I just don't see how tearing down our country's leaders and their leadership will benefit our country or any of us as individuals. Sure, I am able to see where there are some major shortcomings and where some MAJOR changes are needed, but unless I can further those changes coming to fruition in some way, then what good does it do me to CRITICIZE relentlessly? The American people will have their say again in a couple of years and can take a poorly performing administration out and put in one that they think will do a better job for them---after all, isn't that one of the things that makes this country SO GREAT?
